Who is responsible

Rational Observer Global (rational-observer.com) is an independent publication, based in Norway. Questions about your personal data: [contact e-mail].

What we collect and why

• Reading the site: no account is needed. Our hosting provider (Hostinger) keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and time of visit) for security and operation of the site.
• E-mail subscription: if you subscribe, we store your e-mail address only to send you notices about new articles and episodes. Subscription requires your confirmation, and every e-mail has an unsubscribe link. Legal basis: your consent.
• Contacting us: if you write to us, we use your message and address only to answer you.
• Statistics and advertising: if we use visitor statistics or advertising services (such as Google Analytics or Google AdSense), they are activated only after you consent through the cookie banner, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
• Embedded media: videos are hosted on YouTube. When you play one, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

Who processes data for us

Hostinger (website hosting and the e-mail subscription service) and, where used with your consent, Google (statistics, advertising, YouTube). We do not sell or share your data with anyone else.

How long we keep it

Subscriber addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages are kept as long as needed to answer them. Server logs are kept by the host for a limited period.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, and withdraw consent at any time, by writing to [contact e-mail]. You also have the right to complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.no).
